Well, the first thing you need to know is that I write fan fic under two aliases. pervyficgirl is one alias, reserved for primarily comics related fan fiction, and it is where I've spent the majority of the past year and a half. "Samantha Quinn" is the one I started out with in the Enterprise, He-Man, and Buffy Fandoms. I have a love for pretty much all things sci fi related, but I am pretty sure that the bulk of this journal shall be for DCU fic (and ranting about BAD comics!), with the occasional diversion into Heroes, which currently owns my spleen. I do have a personal life away from fandom, but it's rarely mentioned in this journal. In order to explain my basic writing philosophy, I'll use this exchange from As Good as It Gets. Carol K: "We all have these terrible stories to get over, and you..." Melvin Udall: "It's not true. Some have great stories, pretty stories that take place at lakes with boats and friends and noodle salad. Just no one in this car. But, a lot of people, that's their story. Good times, noodle salad. What makes it so hard is not that you had it bad, but that you're that pissed that so many others had it good." *G* I believe in Good Times. I don't really believe in Noodle Salad. Thus, my fiction has people exploring all facets of their lives together, including the parts that hurt the most. Because that's real life. Because Melvin was crazy. The point being is if you like fic with consistently happy endings, orange blossoms, and noodle salad, my journal probably isn't the best place for you to be. | |||||||||
